THE GAME
Hare and Tortoise is race that relies on smart decisions and careful planning to ensure you reach the finish line!
The aim of the game is to be the first player to finish the course with no more than 10 carrots remaining. You choose how far along the board to move in a turn, depending on how many carrots you want to spend. Sounds easy, right?
Well think again. In your journey you’ll have to sustain the perfect number of carrots to reach the finish, discard your lettuce on the correct tiles, and contend with any unforeseen stipulations detailed on the Race cards.
There are different playstyles to trial. You can speed ahead like a hare, and hope that good fortune guides your hops as you hurtle to the end. Or you can bide your time and amass carrots like a tortoise, strengthening your position for later in the game but risking an abrupt loss to your swift-footed foes.
Hare and Tortoise is a classic game that won the original Spiel des Jahres Award in 1979! It’s perfect for adults and families with kids aged eight and older – getting your strategic faculties firing with fun and accessible gameplay.Â
